The deck decides how long the new roof lasts

A re-roof isn't a new layer over a tired one. The whole covering comes off first, which is the only honest way to see what the decking underneath is actually doing. Water finds its way into the same places on most Oklahoma roofs, usually the valleys and around anything that pokes through the field, and from the ground you can't tell whether that wood is still sound. With the roof open, we walk it, mark what's gone soft or delaminated, and replace those sheets before anything new touches them. Skip that step and the new shingles are only as good as the wood holding them up.

What the day looks like

Most single-family houses in the metro run start to finish in one day: strip in the morning, check and repair the deck around midday, dry-in with underlayment the same afternoon so nothing is left open overnight, then the new covering goes on and the crew runs a magnet over the drive and the beds before they leave. Bigger roofs, steeper pitches and commercial buildings take longer, and we tell you that number before the crew shows up, not after. How a single day of re-roofing actually runs

  1. Morning

    The old covering comes off

    Not a layer on top of the last one. The whole roof gets stripped so there's bare decking to look at before anything is decided.

  2. Midday

    The decking gets checked

    Soft or delaminated sheets get found here, usually around valleys and penetrations where water has been sitting. Those sheets get replaced before anything else goes down.

  3. Same afternoon

    Underlayment goes on

    The deck gets dried in the same day it's opened. Nothing sits exposed overnight waiting on the next morning's weather.

  4. Close of day

    New covering, then the sweep

    Shingles or steel go down over the dried-in deck, and the crew finishes by running a magnet over the drive and the beds for stray nails.
